Miracle Prayers
Our Story
My name is Tami McKinney, and my husband and I pastor a church in San Diego. We just love pastoring the City Church. Last October, my husband and I were headed out for a trail bike ride in sunny San Diego when he suddenly got this unbearable stomach pain. So we immediately went to the emergency room, and after some tests, they discovered he had a growth on his pancreas. And the news was so hard for us and so shocking and a little scary to hear. It seemed like just a few weeks later, he was having major surgery and removing the growth and part of his pancreas. But the good news was after the surgery; the doctor confirmed that there is no cancer in his body. We were so thankful, and we were rejoicing! We are just out of our minds with gratefulness for God for taking cancer from his body.
Soon after that, the doctor told us that Jerry would have to undergo chemotherapy treatments. We all know chemotherapy isn't very nice. It is awful. It’s a chemical that powerfully kills the diseased cells, but it harms your body in many ways. Jerry and I had a faith-based doctor, and he said we had to do chemotherapy. The doctors tested the cyst, and it was cancerous. With this type of cancer, cells can hide, and undergoing chemotherapy would kill these diseased cells that might hide. And then Jerry would be pronounced cancer-free. So, of course, we're doing the chemotherapy treatments.
We've had some difficult moments and moments of suffering through chemotherapy. 9 of my best friends have gotten together with me to pray with me continually once a week. We’ve been praying over 200 scriptures and wanted to share that prayer time with you.
Ephesians 6:18 The Message - Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get …. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. … Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.

I just love Ephesians 6:18. It says to pray hard and long, and that's what we're doing. We want to invite you to join one of our prayer times.
