It is Valentine’s Weekend! Happy Valentines! Everyone is thinking about love. How is your love life doing? A number of years ago I realized that I was struggling with loving people. I asked God to help me understand why I was feeling so unloving; why was it so hard to love? God kindly answered me with this verse: Mark 12:31b, "Love others as well as you love yourself." This verse was telling me that you can’t truly love others until you love yourself. At that moment, I could not think of one thing I loved about myself. The Holy Spirit spoke to me that I didn’t love myself and that is why I was having difficulties loving others. Maybe you feel the same way I did or maybe you have this amazing friend who doesn’t love and value herself. She hurts you and you wish you could help her. Well, you can!I was that friend in so much pain and self-hatred, believing no one could love me, or accept me. I felt so rejected by people that I had totally rejected myself and felt unworthy of anyone’s love. I could never love myself. I wondered why my husband married a women who couldn’t love him back. Maybe he hoped and prayed God could change me? He was right God did change me! After reading Mark 12:31, I cried out to God to help me love myself so I could love others. Here are some of the truths He used to heal me.

3 REASONS - I LOVE MYSELF
1. I love myself because God loves me.
A Bible Truth: God completely and totally loves you. It doesn’t matter what you have done, He still loves you. Nothing can stop His love. As a grandmother many times I just look at my granddaughters and feel so much love for them, it actually overwhelms me. This is how God loves you. It is deep and He is overwhelmed with kind compassionate love for you.
A Bible Verse: I have loved you with an everlasting love. Jeremiah 31:3 NIV
Speak To Yourself: Love starts with accepting God’s love for us. After you have received and felt His love then you can love yourself. God loves me so much that I can love myself. I am completely loved by God. I am totally loved by Jesus. When I recognize and accept God’s love for me I realize if He loves, accepts, and values me then I can love myself. I love myself! I love myself because God loves me, Jesus loves me, the Holy Spirit loves me.
Pray For Yourself: Thank you, Jesus, for loving me and teaching me that I can love myself. Because you love me - I love me! I pray You will pour out Your unfailing love, blessing, compassion and kindness on me. The only reason love is in the world is because You are love! No person can give me unconditional love...Only You. You love me unconditionally because You are love. God is love. You know everything about me and you still completely love me. There would be no love without You. Thank you God for your love and kindness. Jesus, You, are constantly revealing your love to me so I can love myself and then I am able to love others.
2. I love myself because God created me.
A Bible Truth: I have been perfectly designed by God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. They loved me so much that they all three got together and created me. They gave me everything I would need to fulfill my destiny. They planned the perfect year I would be born, the perfect parents to shape me, the perfect height, hair color, skills, abilities, home, neighborhood, schools, and teachers. Sometimes I compare myself to the talents of others , wishing I could dance and sing. But I need to remember God gave me everything I need to be the perfect me. Nothing was left out. If I don’t have it - I don’t need it to complete my destiny! God planned every detail of my life so I could fully realize my purpose. God created me so wonderful and I love me -His creation!
A Bible Verse: God created (us) ...in His own image. Genesis 1:27 ESV
Speak To Yourself: God loves me so much - He perfectly created me before the beginning of time. God preplanned my entire life and every detail. I have everything I need to fulfill my God given destiny! My designer is God and He designed me in His image. God created me perfectly and I love His creation. I love me, His creation.
Pray For Yourself: Thank you, Jesus for creating me in your image. I am perfectly made. I am awesome because I was made by the perfect craftsmen. You gave me everything I need to become the perfect me. There will never be another me. I am one of a kind. I am the perfect version of me designed by a perfect God who never makes a mistake. I am created in God’s image and I love myself - the person You made me.
3. I love myself because I have a God-given purpose.
A Bible Truth: I love myself because I was created by God with a definite purpose. I was perfectly designed for something amazing and wonderful. I love that about myself - that I was designed to fulfill a purpose. Everything God makes has a purpose. God knew what greatness He created me to accomplish in life. God had my purpose in mind when I was perfectly formed. I am not a mistake.I am the perfect person to fulfill my purpose. I love myself because my life has great purpose. I have a unique God given purpose.
A Bible Verse: For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
Speak To Yourself: God has created me on purpose with a purpose. I love that about me. God has made me what I am. I have everything I need for life and godliness. I have everything I need to fulfill my purpose. If I don’t have it I don’t need it. I will fulfill my destiny because I am perfectly designed by God to accomplish it.
Pray For Yourself: I love you Jesus. I am so thankful for you because you have plans of greatness for me. You have plans to prosper me and give me a hope and a future. Because You have given me a wonderful purpose, I love myself. I will keep serving You with my whole heart. I will keep doing the right thing over and over again and it will bring me safely to my destiny.
We can now say: I love myself because God loves me, created me and gave me purpose. Say it out loud with me, “I LOVE MYSELF.” Write out one thing you love about yourself and share it with us on the blog. Thank you for sharing your life with us on the blog. It is good to do life with friends.
