God is Good. God is working. Good is coming.
I am so thankful for God in my life. Jerry and I have been living for Jesus for over forty-seven years. Jerry surrendered his life to Jesus at seventeen and I submitted my life to Jesus at five years old and again at sixteen when I encountered the Holy Spirit. God put it on both of our hearts to be pastors and to prepare for ministry by attending Bible College. Jerry attended a Bible College in Florida and I attended Bible College in Oregon. After graduating from college, we met for the first time. We became close friends in a large church doing many ministry responsibilities together. We had a wonderfully romantic time dating, then married and had four sons. We shared the same four goals in life: to love Jesus and to preach his goodness, to give our lives to love and help hurting people, to build a great church and family life for his glory, and to have close, caring, and loving friends. Jerry always added to our list to work hard and save money and I always added to our list to have fun and give; give money and give gifts to others!
We have two scriptures that we have centered our marriage agreement on. The first is Jerry’s lifetime verse of Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” The second is mine, Isaiah 54:17 “No weapon forged to be used against you will succeed; you will refute everyone who tries to accuse you. This is what the LORD will do for his servants, I will vindicate them, says the LORD.”
Jerry always says about Romans 8:28 that God is always working and we are always waiting. But we can be confident good is coming to us, because Jesus promised all things will work together for our good. Waiting is an action, we are waiting in prayer and expectation believing something good is going to happen for us. Remember, God is good and can only work good. God is working for your good and Good is coming!
Again and again, dwell on …Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Let this be your 2021 declaration in the face of all difficulties…“God is Good. God is working. Good is coming.
My favorite life verse is …Isaiah 54:17 “No weapon forged to be used against you will succeed; you will refute everyone who tries to accuse you. This is what the LORD will do for his servants--I will vindicate them," says the LORD. What I have learned from a lifetime of trying to live this verse….my job is to refute wrong thoughts and accusations. I not supposed to allow them to stay or control my mind or heart. And I also understand that it is God’s job is to vindicate me. God will not allow weapons trying to harm me to succeed. Praise God! I live in this freedom, peace, security, and confidence.
I want to encourage you in 2021 to write out your life verse. Write out your God-given purpose.
