Get Encouraged

I felt a nudge to circle the Gift of Prophecy. I was sitting in a service at The City Church & they were going through the Power Gifts of the Holy Spirit explaining what they were. They told us to circle what we thought are main gifts were. After the service ended, I was driving home & I asked God if this was one of the gifts he had for me,the gift of prophecy,  and if so to let me operate in it… and to my surprise it happened! At the FAME event and God told me to go over and use my gift of prophecy. My heart was beating and I was excited to see what God would do! I sat next to a young woman and asked if I could pray for her. She said sure nervously.  As I began to pray for her, the Holy Spirit gave me Isaiah 41, I read and prayed the verses over her. In that moment I realized I was operating in the Gift of Prophecy. I felt so good about myself that God was using me in the gift of prophecy. She was in tears, I was in tears. She experienced so much comfort from God.  Since then the Holy Spirit has used me many times in the Gift of Prophecy. The gift of prophecy always inspires, exhorts, encourages and comforts the hearer. The greatest desire of my life is to help other women and I’m very thankful for this gift.I remember someone giving me a prophetic word was when I was debating if I should do SDCLC (the bible college at our church). I was a new Christian and was afraid of saying yes. A friend of mine, prayed the verse 1 John 4:18. The Holy Spirit spoke to me that I didn’t need to have fear of the unknown.In that moment I knew what I had to do! I was encouraged to register and became a bible college student!The Gift of Prophecy is just 1 of the nine power gifts of the Holy Spirit. The other 8 are listed in 1 Corinthians 12:7-

“to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues..”

God is so good that we ALL are given a gift. The Holy spirit decides which power gift he will use you in. He can use anytime in any of the 9 gifts, but I have found that he usually operates in 1 or 2 gifts consistently. The 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit are supernatural. This is not your natural ability, it is God’s supernatural ability working through you. We’re not in control of this gift, and it doesn’t work on our command. The Holy Spirit works this gift in us when he wants to, all we have to do is be open and ready. In 1 Cor 1 it says God desires that everyone prophecies. When we use the gift of prophecy we are showing each other love and encouragement. We’re using the Holy Spirit word to build each other up. How can we all operate in this?It’s easy, you get a scripture that you find encouraging and use that scripture to pray over someone. Then the Holy Spirit will do his part and speak to the person what they need to hear. If you meet someone else that needs prayer, you can use that same exact scripture for them too. Then watch how the Holy Spirit uses it to encourage, inspire and bring comfort to them.Take a scripture and go pray for someone this week. Let me know how it went below!Xo,Kassandra Cossio
