Do Negative Thoughts Destroy You OR Do You Destroy Negative Thoughts?
At our church this past month we have been doing a 90 Days to Victory plan. In September we said for the next 90 days we would replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts. We will be ending this 90 Days to Victory plan next week. The devil wants us to think negative and limiting thoughts. Negative thoughts hurt you and can cause you defeat, sickness, low self-worth and broken relationships. We can control our thoughts and not allow the devil to whisper in our ear damaging thinking. God, our loving Dad, wants our thoughts to be His thoughts: Thoughts of peace, victory and rejoicing. The devil wants to control your thoughts and "father" you with abusive, anxious, angry and depressive thoughts. Who controls how you think about yourself and others? The devil or God? The Bible says in Proverb 23:7, "As a man thinks in his heart so is he." Maybe some of the hurtful, adverse things going on in your life are caused by negative conversation going on in your head. Negative thoughts destroy you…or will you destroy them? You can still join us in the 90 Days to Victory journey.
Here are 9 ways to destroy negative thoughts and have joy, victory and peace of mind.
Rom 12:2 NLT “... let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.”
When your mind and thoughts are attacked with hurtful and negative words, put this 9-part plan into action:
- Write out four or five of the negative thoughts you keep having aka Negative Thought List.
- Example: "I feel at times my family doesn’t respect and appreciate me."
- Take a second sheet of paper or open another sheet on your computer. Rewrite each negative thought into a positive statement aka Positive Thought List. Write out one or two sentences how you would like to see the situation.
- Example: "My family will highly value me in their lives, they will see me as kind, godly, wise, strong and giving person that I am. I will have a positive, loving, fun and good relationship with everyone in my family."
- In prayer tell God, “I give over this entire situation to you. I believe You are all powerful, big enough and strong enough to change this negative situation into a positive one. I will defeat the enemies lies and deception in this area of my life. I am deleting the negative thoughts from my mind."
- Now delete the Negative Thoughts List from Step 1. Tear up the negative thoughts paper or on your computer push delete on your negative thoughts list . Enjoy the freedom and the feelings of overcoming negative thoughts.
- Now praise God for delivering you.
- Example: "Thank you Jesus for setting me free from demonic negative thoughts trying to bring me pain in my relationships with my family. Over and over tell God how thankful you are that Jesus has changed your circumstances. Give praise over everything on your list. We are putting our hope and trust in God for the future blessings"
- Add a scriptures to reinforce each positive statement on your Positive Thought List. Write out a verse next to each positive statement. Make your positive thoughts a God thought.
- Example: Prov 31:28 “Her children respect and bless her; her husband joins in with words of praise.”
- Guard your thoughts. Take your thoughts captive. Negative thoughts always have a way of returning. So make a plan to speak out loud to the negative thoughts when they try to return. Recognize them right away and say … “Evil thoughts of anxiety, insecurity, angry, bitterness, lessened, devalued, hurt, envy, worry and pain, you negative thought have been sent to trouble me and reduce me to nothingness must leave my mind. I replace negative thinking with positive God thoughts. You can’t return and abuse and destroy my relationships." Now you have an answer for the negative thought. Now you have hope!
- Wake up and realized evil and hurtful thoughts are from the devil. You must confront them and stop them. They are from hell itself. Sent to demoralize you. These satanic thoughts are like crushing blows breaking you apart. They are horrific, destruction and demonic sent to destroy you and cause you constant pain. Negative thoughts can cause you sickness, isolation, diseases and physical pain. It can stop you from your destiny and keep you from living the happy fulfilled life God has planned for you.
- Write a note to the person that the demons are giving you wrong and wounding thoughts about.
- Example: "I love you and I appreciate you. Praying you will have a wonderful day!"
Ephesians 4:27 Don’t give the slanderous accuser, the Devil, an opportunity to manipulate you! 2 Corinthians 10:5 "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."
I am so thankful for you! I pray for you and I would love to know how you are doing. Please pray for me too.Tami McKinney
