Honor Mom
Being a godly mom is what I always aspired to do with my future. It was my dream. I thought about baking homemade cookies, homeschooling, notes on the fridge, and lots of kids running around in the backyard with a dog. Truthfully, I am thankful that I got to live this dream!
Before a dream comes true, there is always a waiting period and sometimes a struggle to get you to give up on your wish. My vision of being a mom and having a family was usurped by the devil at different times. The devil wants us to give up and stop trusting God during the waiting period. But like you, I kept hoping in Jesus and praying constantly for nine years for a godly husband and family. It was hard going four years without even having a date, no guy even noticed me, would I be single forever? Instead of feeling sorry for myself and giving into negativity I made a scripture book holding on to the promises, I kept purposing in my heart to believe God’s word and trust in His perfect timing.
Finally years later, I did marry a great godly man and now I wondered if I was too old to birth a tribe of kids. I soon realized he didn’t share my interest in having children. He didn’t want to have kids right away and when we did...maybe one or two children. So I kept praying and asking God, "Please change my husband’s mind and let him be open to having a baby now!" God knew my yearning to be a mother and a year later I was pregnant with our first child, I thought finally my dream has come true! Three days after my birthday I gave birth to my first child, Happy Birthday to me! That day became my worst nightmare. Instead of it being the happiest day of my life, it was the day my heart was broken, the doctor came into the hospital room to tell me my baby was born terminally ill and he wouldn’t live long. He was blind, deaf, mentally underdeveloped, and physically paralyzed. Eighteen months later, seven days before Mother’s Day my precious baby went to heaven to be with Jesus. Soon after that the doctors questioned my ability to have a healthy child. When I found out I was pregnant they suggested an abortion. I knew Jesus, prayer, scriptures, and church friends would carry me through this hard place because they helped me overcome the tragedy when my son past away. I carried that baby full termed and he was a healthy boy. We all celebrated!
The story doesn’t end here - what the devil meant for evil God turn for good (Rom.8:28). Now 33 years later, I have 3 healthy sons and five grandchildren. I experienced two years of suffering and then I received my miracle of 33 years of a good family life. Please know God didn’t bring me pain and suffering, it was from the devil. God is good and only can do good (Ps 119:68). God blessed me with the privilege of being a mother. I am thankful. God has healed my broken heart. This is my scripture of my supernatural breakthrough miracle in becoming a mother and wife. Isaiah 61:3, "... provide for those who grieve in Zion-- to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor. " In response to this verse, I imagine myself wearing a crown of victory, rejoicing, praising God and living a life dedicated to help women attain their dreams too.
I wanted to share with you my struggle to motherhood. For some motherhood and marriage is a difficult journey and for others smooth sailing. But we are in this together. Your battle is my battle and your victory is my victory. Now, that I have got my supernatural dream fulfilled, I want to help you receive your miracle.

We would love to hear your story, where you are on the journey and what the Holy Spirit is saying to you about motherhood and marriage?

On Mother’s Day all mothers should be honored…
Today on Mother’s Day, I would like to honor all moms because the Bible says too. God tells us to honor and love our mothers. Leviticus 19:3 tells us…Every one of you shall revere his mother.Ephesians 6:2 says…honor your mother. Honoring your mother was so important that God included it in the Ten Commandments. In Exodus 20:12 it says…Honor … your mother. If you honor your … mother, you will live a long life, full of blessings. The promise is you will be blessed with long life, prosperity, protection, happy relationships and peace of mind. In turn your kids will honor you.
2 Ways to Honor Mom on Mother’s Day!
Treat mom with admiration and approval.
Show your mother respect. Never make fun of mom, be kind and patient towards her. Try to understand your mother by asking her questions. God chose her to be your mother. When God looked down to choose a mother for you…he chose the perfect mom for you. Try to comprehend why, she is the best parent for you. You can’t exist without your mother. Psalms 139:13,16 God knit me together in my mother’s womb…and recorded every day of my life before I was born. She is the reason you are alive.
Overlook moms mistakes and failures.
Forgive her quickly. No mother is perfect. Realize there is no perfect mom and this doesn’t give us an excuse not to honor her. We honor the position even if the person is flawed, simply because they are our parents, we must treat them with respect. Honor them for the one thing they did right and forgive the things they did wrong. Ephesians 4:32 says… Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
3 Ways Jesus Honored His Mother
Jesus followed this scripture and He asked us to do the same. Exodus 20:12 tells us …to Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be prolonged in the land the Lord your God gives you. Honor means to obey, respect, and care for. I want to quickly look how Jesus honored his mother in these 3 ways, obey, respect and care.
1. Jesus as a child honored his mother by obeying her. Luke 2:41-52 AMP says…(Jesus) went down to Nazareth with (his parents), and was continually submissive and obedient to them. A child is to obey their parents, everyone needs to learn to respond and relate to authority in a positive way. Ephesians 6:1 tells us, Children, obey your parent; this is the right thing to do because God has placed them in authority over you. Proverbs 1:8-9: Listen, my son, …do not forsake your mother's teaching. Mothers are honored through the obedience of their children.
2. Jesus as a young adult honored his mother by showing her respect. In Matthew 12:46, it says…While he was still talking to the crowd, his mother … showed up…outside trying to get a message to him. Someone told Jesus, “Your mother … wanting to speak with you.” 13:1 … about that same time Jesus left the house. Proverbs 13:1 says…Intelligent children listen to their parents; foolish children do their own thing. And Proverbs 23:22 instructs us… Listen… don’t despise your mother’s experience. Honoring your mother has to do with listening to her, respecting her wisdom, experience and learning from her mistakes and successes. Listening to your mom shows her respect. Jesus stopped his important meeting to talk and listen to his mom. Be like Jesus and take time to talk with your mother, make her feel a part of your life and build a loving conversation-relationship with mom. Mothers are honored when young adult children show respect by listening to them talk.
3. Jesus as an adult honored his mother by caring for her. John 19:26-27 says…When Jesus was on the cross….Jesus saw his mother and the disciple he loved standing near her. He said to his mother, “Woman, here is your son.” Then to the disciple, “Here is your mother.”From that moment the disciple accepted her as his own mother. Proverb 23:22b says …when your mother is old, show her your appreciation. This is an example of Jesus honoring his mother by caring for her household needs in her senior years. Statistics say it cost $250, 000 to raise a child from birth to eighteen. Honor your mother for her effort and sacrifice of time and money spent on you. Appreciate your elderly mother by caring for her financially. Mothers are honored through the financial care of their adult children. Let’s all honor our moms today!
I would like to pray for you…
We speak a blessing over you and your family. We pray God’s presence will invade your home, expelling darkness, depression, discouragement, angry and fear. I declare that the blood of Jesus is over the doors of your home and sickness, destruction, guilt, shame and evil must pass over our homes because of the blood of Jesus. I pray the Holy Spirit brings success, victory and abundance over our families. May God give peace, purity, freedom and purpose to our families.
I believe that I am a light to my family. I feel God’s embrace of love, appreciation and acceptance over me and my children. I declare that all my children will know Jesus and make a difference with their lives. Thank you, Jesus!
Mom’s Honored
When NBA Kevin Durant was named MVP. He thanked God and said his mother is the real MVP. A single mom.

Moses' mother was exceptional. She raised him up as a deliverer, her 2nd son Aaron was the 1st high priest, and her daughter Marion was the 1st worship leader introducing the nation to worship– a worship leader, a high priest and a deliver all came from this one mother.
When God sent Jesus he needed a mother…
Tell us about your mom and share your family prayer request, something that will take a miracle. I’m praying God’s divine will and protection over my children.
Let’s bombard heaven together!
